Café Pli is a coffeeshop where you can write to your future self or to a loved one, and choose to send it in 1 year, 5 years or 20 years. Café Pli offers a workshop to create your own postcard using the linocut technique.
Linocut is one of the most popular printing techniques. Similar to woodcutting, it involves hollowing out parts of a linoleum plate and inking the untouched parts, to print the resulting pattern.
During this 2-hour workshop, we will provide you with a 10x15 cm linoleum plate and provide you with lots of inspiration. You will draw your design or choose an illustration from our inspirations. You will then engrave your image to make your stamp, and you will learn how to ink and print your engraving for a unique card!
This workshop will offer you a creative break, conducive to relaxation, away from screens. This moment is ideal for, afterwards, writing your future self. You will be able to lend yourself to the game of introspection and take stock, encourage yourself, challenge yourself or simply unwind. Thus, at the end of the linocut workshop, we will offer you to write your newly created card. We will then provide you with all the writing materials (pencils, ballpoint pens, fountain pens, felt-tip pens, etc.) as well as an envelope, the wax to seal your letter.
You can choose the date of sending your card over the coming year*, and choose your recipient: your "future you" or a loved one. Then be patient, the Café Pli team will take care of sending it on the date and to the chosen address.
You will leave with your lino stamp for repeat the experiment at home and thus create new cards.
This workshop is open to all. No drawing skills are required. Allow 2 hours for the linocut workshop, and between 15 minutes and 1 hour for writing your card (depending on each person).
* Included is a shipment within 1 year maximum, in France. Option possible on site for a shipment within 5 years (+10€) or 20 years (+30€) and/or for an international shipment (+4€).
